Founded in 1982, u3a is a UK-wide movement (based loosely on the French model) aiming to encourage groups of people no longer in full-time work to come together and continue their enjoyment of learning subjects of interest to them in a sociable and welcoming environment.
The u3a ethos is 'Learn, Laugh, Live' and there are over 1,000 individual u3as throughout the UK with a total membership of over 420,000. It’s an organisation for people to share interests with each other. There are no tests or exams and no qualifications required or gained.
Waterlooville u3a formed in 2006, is totally voluntary and has evolved into a vibrant and thriving local membership organisation with around 1,000 members. We are a friendly, informal group of people and organise a varied programme of creative, study, social and leisure activities. Members freely give their time to share their knowledge and experience, enabling people to come together to learn for fun and to explore new ideas, skills and activities. We currently offer over 100 groups for their enjoyment, covering many different topics and activities ranging from Archaeology to Wine Appreciation and everything in between.
If you would like to meet active and enthusiastic people who take a creative and positive approach to life after work and family then you are likely to enjoy belonging to Waterlooville u3a.
