About the u3a

Founded in 1982, u3a is a UK-wide movement (based loosely on the French model) aiming to encourage groups of people no longer in full-time work to come together and continue their enjoyment of learning subjects of interest to them in a sociable and welcoming environment.

The u3a ethos is 'Learn, Laugh, Live' and there are over 1,000 individual u3as throughout the UK with a total membership of over 420,000. It’s an organisation for people to share interests with each other. There are no tests or exams and no qualifications required or gained.

Please browse through the various groups, events and photo gallery to get a picture of what we are about. We hope you will be inspired to find out more, experience a taster session or two, come along to a coffee morning or monthly meeting and maybe join us. If you decide to join, you can start learning with other members and make the most out of life by exploring new ideas, skills and interests.

Waterlooville u3a is a vibrant, thriving local membership organisation with a variety of opportunities for members to engage in. Our members draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other for pleasure; learning is its own reward.

It’s all voluntary; we have over 100 activity and interest groups covering many different topics and activities from Archaeology to Wine Appreciation and everything in between for our members to enjoy. We provide a wide range of opportunities for people to come together to learn for fun and help members to explore new ideas, skills and activities.

We are local, welcoming, social, friendly, low-cost and open to people no longer in full-time employment.

Do something brilliant today!
